External USB 2.0 Enclosure: Wind 2000/XP HOTFIX!

For all users who encounter problems during the installation of the MANHATTAN USB 2.0 Enclosure we have provided a HOTFIX which resolves a problem with USB 1.1 controllers under Windows 2000 and XP.
The problem:
Under Windows XP the enclosure has been detected and installed correctly. However, the HDD inside the enclosure does not show up in Windows Explorer or Disk Management even though the HDD is set to MASTER Mode via Jumpers.
The solution:
The problem is caused by a certain version of the built-in chipset. Apply the patch as shown below to resolve the problem. Newer editions of this product normally work correctly and do not require this patch.

Instructions:

Download the following file:

701594_patch_Driver.zip

Unzip the HOTFIX file
Plug in the enclosure into the USB 1.1 port of your PC
Run the "install.exe" file extracted from the HOTFIX
Disconnect and then reconnect the enclosure with USB 1.1 port

-> The HDD should now be detected by the operating system.
